It’s getting easier and easier to use AI to generate convincing-looking, yet entirely fake, pictures of people. Now, one company wants to find a use for these photos, by offering a resource of 100,000 AI-generated faces to anyone that can use them — royalty free. Many of the images look fake but others are difficult to distinguish from images licensed by stock photo companies.
The project’s Product Hunt page lists Icons8 product designer Konstantin Zhabinskiy as the creator. Icons8 is a designer marketplace for icons and photographs. The AI-produced images are intended to be used as design elements in anything from presentations to websites and mobile apps. Everything is free to use with link attribution back to generated.photos.

Mercedes-Benz’s newest concept car is a reminder that the company pioneered the concept of cars.
The Vision Mercedes Simplex, unveiled late last week at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, is essentially a modern-day reboot of the original Mercedes, the “35 PS” from 1901. Along with its successor, the original Simplex, the 35 PS helped kick off the era of the automobile, tipping the industry away from rickety, top-heavy wooden carriages that were retrofitted with engines.

George Mager’s bouncy, multilingual world uses script as design

Moscow-based artist George Mager has such a familiar style that it feels like you’ve stumbled upon it before in an old Japanese manga or maybe in a vintage children’s book of fairy tales you picked up from a dusty corner of the thrift shop. But all the while, his art is instantly recognizable as his own, with soft, bouncy lines that outline friendly, lumpy characters that look like they’re made of putty. The freelance artist has applied his playful style to comic adaptations of cartoon series like Uncle Grandpa, Gumball, and Over the Garden Wall, and he has also worked on character explorations for Netflix’s upcoming animated series Centaurworld.

Adobe is hoping to eliminate the tedious, time-consuming process that comes with editing videos for different social platforms with its new AI-powered Auto Reframe feature for Premiere Pro. For example, if you’ve got a video that you want to post to YouTube, the Instagram grid, and Instagram Stories, you’d currently have to manually edit that video for three different aspect ratios. Auto Reframe can automatically identify the main action happening in the video and crop and pan the frame around that footage to fit within ratios like square, vertical, or 16:9 videos. The feature, shown off today at the International Broadcasting Convention, makes use of Adobe Sensei, the company’s artificial intelligence platform.
