Danilo Olim’s Interlocking Plywood Shapes for Custom Shelving Units

Lisbon-based furniture designer Danilo Olim created these plywood Module 77 pieces:

The idea is that you plug the pieces into one to form a configuration that suits you:

I understand the appeal of the hexagon to geometry lovers, but I don’t think they’re a very useful shape for storage, as loading them up with our predominantly rectilinear objects leaves a lot of wasted space. I was curious what this concept would look like with squares instead, and turns out Olim’s done those too, with this Module 22 variant:

I thought both of these were just interesting experiments—but Olim has these available for sale through the website of his company, DAOO Concepts.
