Another Heat-Gun/Plastic-Bottle Joinery Example: Tonghe Wang’s Bottle Stool

Someone named Tonghe Wang (no further information was provided) came up with this, writing only: “This is a bottle stool.”



While I doubt the connections would be strong enough to hold a person, I admire the creativity. This reminds me of Guillermo Cameron Mac Lean’s method of making cabinet knobs.

I like the idea of people repurposing throwaway packaging by exploiting its properties to create joinery. During the Industrial Revolution, when we first mastered the ability to make repeatable and consistent threads, it would’ve blown their minds to think we’d go to the trouble of creating threaded items only meant to be used once.
