Design Entrepreneurs: Need Engineering Support? This Prototyping House Can Help

If you’re a design entrepreneur seeking prototyping and low-volume manufacturing services, and you need engineering support, this new initiative from Mack Prototype might be for you.

The Massachusetts-based company is a subsidiary of Mack Molding Co., a contract manufacturer that can handle plastics design, prototyping, molding, sheet metal fabrication, full-service machining and medical device manufacturing. Additionally, Mack Prototype offers 3D printing, additive manufacturing, CNC machining, cast urethane molding, plastic injection molding, and finishing, painting and assembly operations.

In an effort to drum up new business, this month Mack Prototype launched a New Product Introduction service that offers 15,000 square feet of space for fixturing, assembly and testing, as well as the services of their in-house manufacturing engineer to make sure everything goes smoothly.

“With supply chain and design for manufacturing services, as well as molding and machining capabilities, right on site, we are uniquely positioned to give small program productions large program-level engineering support,” said Mack Prototype President Greg Cebular. “Our size gives us the agility necessary to adapt to the changing needs of early-stage manufacturing, while our experience and support from the broader Mack Molding family means customers can move into full program launch when they are ready.”

Their manufacturing engineer, Patrick Merrill, comes from the medical device industry and has experience with design for manufacturing, developing manufacturing procedures, benchtop testing, inventory management and quality system implementation.
