To a person with a hammer, everything looks like a nail. The exception to the rule is Swiss artist Simon Berger; while trained as a carpenter, he eventually turned his hammer into more of a paintbrush.
Berger’s technique is to precisely strike panes of glass with a hammer, using the resultant spiderwebs as highlights. In this manner, he’s able to create some astonishing portraits:
