Here’s the strangest object I’ve seen this week, something that seems very well made–and whose function and purpose completely eludes me. Then again, I’m not the EDC type, and the $99 Dango Coin Capsule + Tether Bundle is obviously aimed at that set.
It’s a chunk of 6061 aluminum that’s been CNC milled…to hold precisely $5.44 in U.S. coins.
I figured it would dispense the coins in some nifty way, like a spring-loaded change belt, but no. Instead you must unscrew the top, regardless of which coin compartment you’re trying to access:

I just can’t see how this is an improvement over, like, pockets. Can the EDC enthusiasts among you explain the appeal of this object? I’m asking sincerely.
