Using a Cheap Rifle Laser for Quick Router Set-Ups

Craftsman Michael Gildersleeve runs a cabinet shop in Illinois, and has an impressive self-built system for setting up shop on a jobsite. Composed of multiple components and designed around an arsenal of Festool products, he’s thought out every detail from where you stow the saw between cuts to how to provide a perfectly level worksurface.

One detail in particular jumped out at me: Gildersleeve uses “a cheap rifle laser” on a DIY plate for his router. Attached to a track and aimed at a measuring tape, he can then quickly set up stops to constrain the router’s path:

Check out his complete system:

Gildersleeve sells the plans for his system on Etsy for $15.
