Help Open the World of Mobility

To provide the greatest benefit to people and society, mobility must be sustainable and available to all, including those facing challenges of aging and disability. You are invited to use your special talents to help create a vision for more fully inclusive future mobility.

The Problem:

Approximately one quarter of the world’s population is aging or dealing with one or more forms of disability that can impact their access to safe and affordable mobility.

Barriers, both seen and unseen, impact their ability to contribute to and enjoy the benefits of the greater society and often result in isolation and further withdrawal from society.

The Invitation:

One of the world’s premier mobility design competitions, the Movin'On Challenge Design, now in its 21st year, recognizes the unique role that the design and creative communities play in envisioning solutions that address future mobility needs. We invite designers, creatives, and futurists to address those needs in our latest Challenge.

The Challenge:

Design a future with truly inclusive access to mobility, a future that breaks down barriers and increases the personal well-being and respect for all people.

The Opportunity:

“Design can solve complex problems. With creativity in design we can achieve a better understanding of human needs and shape the future of sustainable mobility in its many forms,” said Mike Marchand, Michelin North America director of sustainable development and mobility.

“We believe that Design should play a major role in meeting tomorrow’s mobility needs of the total society. That includes placing the most vulnerable into human centered design, while recognizing the potential digital and territorial gaps, environmental and sanitary concerns, and making Post-Covid -19 transportation safer for everyone,” said Nick Mailhiot, Chairman of the 2021 Movin'On Challenge Design.

“Often seemingly simple ideas that help provide a solution for one group of users can be the catalyst for other ideas and uses,” said Mailhiot.
