Splach: An E-Scooter With a Plush Suspension for Urban and Offroad Terrain

Your average electric scooter would be great for cruising through airport terminals, warehouses and shopping malls. But when it comes to sidewalks, curbs and bumpy grass, having the wheels bolted directly to the frame can provide a jarring ride.

Enter Splach, the first e-scooter we’ve seen that’s got a suspension system.

The “highly flexible front and rear suspension system…can be manually adjusted for maximum comfort according to the individual’s weight and road conditions,” writes manufacturer Splach Bike.

At nearly 40 pounds the Splach isn’t exactly light, but your reward for lugging it around will be 37 miles of range, at speeds up to 28 miles per hour. And as evidence that these are designed for adults rather than kids or skinny hipsters, it’ll carry a maximum weight of 264 pounds.

The Splach was a tremendous success on IndieGogo earlier this year, landing $623,845 in pledges. They’re currently shipping them out now, but you should check the Updates section on the campaign page to check on delivery hang-ups specific to your country.
