Henderson Island is a 14.4-square-mile, uninhabited landmass in the South Pacific Ocean. Studies have shown that this area has a higher density of plastic wash up on its shores than any other place on the globe. It is estimated that the island’s shores contain about 37.7 million items of debris, weighing a total of 17.6 tons.
