Today is the French national holiday of Bastille Day, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison and the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789. To celebrate, here’s an Overview of the Arc de Triomphe, located at the centre of 12 radiating avenues in Paris. In a typical year, today’s festivities would include a massive parade that begins at the Arc and proceeds down the grand avenue of the Champs-Élysées.
