This Staggered-Slat “Walking Floor” Can Magically Move Objects Across It

A material handling company named Keith Manufacturing has developed a Walking Floor®, a brilliant way to get cargo out of a truck without lifting a finger. When I first saw this GIF, I couldn’t understand how it worked:

And I thought for sure it wouldn’t work with finer material, like sawdust, until I saw this:

An explanation for how this works is needed. Thankfully the company has one:

Staggering the heights is very clever!

I wish the bed of my pickup had one of these systems (and a swing-down tailgate).
