There are more than 20 million people who live in the New York City metropolitan area. Manhattan’s population density is 66,940 people per square mile (25,846/km²), the highest of any county in the United States. We believe the Overview perspective offers a powerful, visual reminder of just how many of us live in cities. Learning from our friends in Italy, Iran, South Korea, and Spain (among many other countries), we must take it upon ourselves to practice social distancing and limit the spread of the Coronavirus as much as possible.
