Do You Have a Proposed Design for a Social Distancing Enforcement Object?
It was a matter of time until someone created a physical object to assist with “social distancing,” the practice of keeping nearby people away to avoid transmitting COVID-19:
The CDC writes that the recommended distance to be maintained is 6 feet (2 meters), so this guy’s solution doesn’t quite fit the bill, but I guess you do what you can.
Also, just for fun: If you had to design something for social distancing–say, as a non-serious first-year ID class assignment–what would you come up with? Issues to consider:
- How to put it on and take it off
- How to get in and out of doorways
- How to store it
- How to clean it
- Inclement weather
For navigating around objects or through doorways, I think you’d have to go with something that could collapse and deploy as needed. And for weight/fatigue concerns, maybe something inflatable, or with inflatable components connected by hinges?
