In my lifetime, crosswalk signs have evolved from simple text warnings (Walk/Don’t Walk), to language-free icons of a white figure in stride vs. an orange halting hand, to a variant of that with a countdown timer. Now, some anonymous signage designer has managed to sneak in a full-blow animation, showing you how fast you need to run to make the light:
Amusing, but isn’t it overkill, considering there’s already a timer? Perhaps there should be a couple of frames after “1” showing the pedestrian getting plowed by a bus.
