Australian brand Gineico has been bringing Italian architectural lighting solutions to Australian shores since 1976. Beginning with marine lighting fitted to locally-built luxury boats, the brand soon evolved to outfitting luxury waterfront homes. Passionate about Italian-made innovative products, their curated selection marries quality with design. Gineico’s brands are leaders in LED lighting solutions, most being smaller artisan manufacturers who are committed to both the latest technology whilst being realistically priced.

“We speak Italian. We know Italian Lighting design and have a unique point of difference in that we also know and understand our harsh waterfront environment,” says Gineico.

Tripod floor light designed by Front Design for FontanaArte.

From the iconic Italian brand FontanaArte from the Gineico stable, we particularly love the prickly pear-inspired Optunia Table Lamp designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune, featuring two discs that rotate on a perpendicular axis to one another. This double movement allows for both direct and indirect lighting emission, utilizing wall or ceiling surfaces to give a soft and diffused glow. The lamp is available in clean opaque white, dark mirrored chrome, a darker onyx-like shade, and brown quartz.

Also from Fontana Arte, the tall, elegant Tripod Floor Stand by Front Design was another favourite release from Milan in 2017. The lamp combines a frosted glass sphere with black metal legs and adjustable brass spotlights.

From Antonangeli, the Lettura floor lamp doubles as a functional shelf designed to hold books and newspapers. A paradox, the light features a high output integrated LED whilst harking back to a less technical era, i.e. where we didn’t read off screens. Handmade of laser-cut bronze plates and brass or copper tubing, the Lettura is visually delicate and modifiable, available as a cable suspended or ceiling mounted unit, as well as a floor mounted bedside table.

Also elegant, the Skyfall floor lamp features a hand-hammered brass disc diffuser on a black metal frame. Providing a soft, flattering glow, the lamp is designed for focused lighting over a dining or boardroom table, or lounge seating area.

Twin Genius by Buzzi & Buzzi.

New and notable products in Gineico range include the Genius collection from Buzzi & Buzzi. At just 23mm in diameter, the unique fitting delivers double the power of a standard sized downlight.

Available in a range of options including waterproof, low recess, directional and a ‘naked’, designed specifically for timber-lined ceilings. The light is so small and discreet that it essentially disappears on a ceiling.

Lumi wall light designed by Fabbian.

From lighting appliance brand Fabbian, the Lumi Wall light resembles more of a sculpture, comprised of a handmade frosted Murano glass sphere. Available in a range of sizes from 90mm to 400mm, they are ideal for clustering, and are able to be wall-mounted directly through a mirror.

Fixing collars are available in white, brushed gold or anodised aluminium, with custom colours including chrome available on request. The spheres can also be mounted on ceiling’s, and are available in pendant and floor-standing versions.

An emerging brand imported by Gineico, VeniceM was founded in 2013 by Melissa Lunardi and Massimo Tonetto, developed in line with constant diversification in their approach to design research. The decorative lighting collection takes simple, basic forms – squares, circles and triangles – and works them into meticulous, timeless elements.

Some favourites include the Misty series of blended white blown glass, the geometric Grace suspension light comprised of LED’s enclosed in crystal rods, the LESS asymmetric pendant and the Urban series of brass and matte black perforated metal.
