What It’s Like Spending a Night at the JumboStay, a Decommissioned 747 Transformed Into a Hotel

Airport hotels are typically nothing you’d want to Instagram, but Sweden’s Arlanda Airport features some rather unique runway-side accommodations: The JumboStay, a decommissioned 747 that’s been transformed into a 33-room hotel. Guests can choose to stay in a main-cabin room, a suite in the cockpit, or even the engine nacelles.

The sound-insulated, temperature-controlled jet can accommodate up to 76 guests and features proper bathrooms and showers. A café and bar in the main cabin serves meals and snacks. Surprisingly, the JumboStay is actually a budget hotel: Hostel-style dorm rooms start at USD $48 per night. (Those who want to splash out on a suite will spend roughly four times as much.)
