Dearest Friends,
Each year, when the madness of MILANTRACE comes to a close, I am left feeling elated, bruised and battered, and wrapped up in a complex set of emotions. A sense of enormous pride and relief that we managed to pull it off for another year, along with profound feelings of sadness that it’s over. You see, this massive, ambitious project brings about equal amounts of pleasure and pain, and those of you who’ve been along to one of our events would know precisely what I’m talking about. But I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again – regardless of the immense physical pain and the extraordinary workload this project brings to our little team, being able to connect with so many of you in person and take Yellowtrace into a live format is the most rewarding experience. Your support for #MILANTRACE2018 has reached a whole new level this year. Your growing turnout and unrelenting encouragement have been immensely humbling and deeply moving.
Since it’s inception 5 years ago, MILANTRACE has grown into one of the most highly anticipated events on the Australian Design calendar. This year we had over 1,700 people attend our 8 live talks across 5 cities in Australia alone. In partnership with Living Edge, our national speaking tour saw us travelling to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, and we even managed to add on one last-minute talk in Adelaide for the first time ever, thanks to DIA SA/NT and Estilo Commercial, with support from the School of Art, Architecture + Design, UniSA. Yay! I would like to extend one final thanks to our awesome friends at Living Edge, the Principal and Hosting Partner for MILANTRACE 2018, who have put so much faith in us and what we do over the years – a partnership we are super proud of.
For those of you who weren’t able to attend one of our live Milantrace events (or you have, and would like to see the talk again), you can head over to Vimeo now where we’ve made the full recording of the talk available to hire, just like your favourite movie. In addition to the talk, we’ve also made an exclusive uncut Milantrace 2018 Digital Report available for purchase. You can find out more info and see some sample pages from our Milan report right here.
I leave you today with a little video from one of our events in Melbourne (above) and plenty of happy snaps from some of the live events above and in the galleries below.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you again for another amazing year.
Always, Mama Yellowtrace x
