Having already achieved phenomenal success in São Paulo, the Emiliano hotel brand has arrived in Rio de Janeiro. Situated on the iconic Copacabana beach, Emiliano RJ Hotel been designed by Studio Arthur Casas, the same architects who worked on the original hotel project, in collaboration with American architect, Chad Oppenheim, for the initial project conception.

With its’ glorious 60’s inspired white, perforated façade, it’s a bit of a stunner this hotel. Studio Arthur Casas have created a skin-like surface for the building, a structure that is typical of Brazilian architecture. The fibreglass panels of the façade give rise to various visual configurations. Even when the panels are closed, the light and the breeze can still flow through, ensuring guests both privacy and a sea view. The design of the façade not only gives priority to natural light and the stunning views, it also connects the guest to the city itself.

The 5-star hotel has a ground floor bar which is enjoyed by both guests and non-guests alike. The bar, located at the entrance, directs traffic in two directions – one towards the restaurant and the business centre, the other to the reception, with a private waiting area for hotel guests. The hotel is 12 stories high, and contains 90 rooms, a series of health and wellness spaces, and a leisure area located on the rooftop complete with an infinity-edge pool.

The interiors, a nod to Brazilian modernism, are inspired by landscape architect and artist Roberto Burle Marx. His work, on display in the hotel lobby, have been the source of inspiration for the palette of the fit out. The fabric and textures used for the furniture in the reception area and in the bedrooms, draw on the hues of green in the piece. Materials selected for the hotel are all Brazilian, including cane, timber, white Paraná marble, granite, and stone. The decor includes pieces by major names in Brazilian design of the ‘50s, such as Rio’s native Sergio Rodrigues, as well as by contemporary designers, such as the Italian native Paola Lenti.
