This is the best of what good industrial design has to offer. The Paperpot Transplanter, a Japanese invention for farmers, lets one person do in minutes what ordinarily takes an hour:

This is a great example of harnessing the properties of materials–in this case, paper and Plexiglass–and shaping them in such a way as to make what would be a tedious task into something precise and easy:
