Swipe here to see a before and after of Burning Man - a week-long, annual event held in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, USA.
We’re posting this in collaboration with the California Academy of Sciences for their Big-Picture “Time-Capsule” series to show change over time through photography. The contest is still open until March 1.
In total, Burning Man draws more than 65,000 participants each year and is described as an experiment in community, art, self-expression, and radical self-reliance. As seen here one of Burning Man’s key principles is ‘Leave No Trace’ – meaning significant efforts are taken to make sure the desert returns to its original state in the days following the festival.
