On Thursday, the US government announced its plans to allow new offshore oil and gas drilling operations in nearly all United States coastal waters. This removal of restrictions put in place by the Obama administration will give energy companies access to areas off the coast of California for the first time in decades and will open more than a billion acres in the Arctic and along the Eastern Seaboard.
