Today it has been reported that an iceberg — roughly twice the size of Luxembourg — separated from the Larsen Ice Shelf in Antarctica. This photograph from January shows a massive fracture in the ice that measured more than 100 feet wide and over 100 miles long at the time. It is estimated that this chunk weighs roughly one trillion tons and the break could lead to a rise in global sea levels by roughly four inches (10 centimeters).
