#HTE

In reality, there is no such thing as a red state or a blue state. When we look at the entirety of the United States all at once, what we actually see are 3.8 million square miles of land and water.

For two years, we have been inundated by stories told to us by individuals who were obligated to stress how polarized our views are, or how different we are from one another. When you read or watch the news today, you will see these maps of our country, neatly filled in with red or blue. When you look at those maps, remember that there is more to that story.

“Red states” contain plenty of “blue" people. “Blue states” contain plenty of “red” people. I hope today we can start to see past the differences we have been focused on for such a long time, realize we are more like each other than some would like us to believe, and come together more so than we ever have before.
