It’s been more than six years since I first fell in love with the work of French artist Noémie Goudal, and I am still just as blown away by this young ladies work, like I was when I first discovered her. Goudal is a Royal College of Art graduate, with an MA in Photography, living and working between Paris and London. Her practice is an investigation into photographs and films as “dialectical images”. In other words, Goudal investigates the intersection of close proximities of truth and fiction, real and imagined, offering new perspectives into the photographic canvas.
Her series titled “In Search Of The First Line” is difficult to make out at first sight (or at second, or even third). The images have an almost dream like quality – at first they look perfectly real, but feel slightly odd and surreal – just like being a dream. Extreme love.
