#HTE
We’re starting off today’s post with a gentle reminder that somebody actually lives in this fuck-off incredible space. They get to wake up in that 10/10 bedroom, swan down those velvet-draped halls, cook dinner in that kitchen and when it all gets too much, kick back on the rooftop terrace and do a little gardening with a gin in hand. The incredible scale and theatre let this space transcend place and purpose – it could be a gallery or a museum in New York, London or Shanghai. Yet despite the grandeur, it’s entirely approachable and liveable. And that’s exactly where the magic is.
Peter’s House is a private residence in Copenhagen, designed for renowned Danish photography Peter Krasilnikoff by the masters at Studio David Thulstrup. It’s the spatial equivalent of Diana Ross, Raf Simons and Talitha Getty’s love child – a little disco, a little earthy and incredibly crisp and considered. Studio David Thulstrup managed the interior design process, from ideation, planning, concept and design development of architecture and interiors, to construction management and furniture selection. The design is focused around a central mirror-clad atrium, which floods all three floors of the residence with natural light. The atrium is lush with grass, plants and a feature tree that is visible from all floors, creating a central and bright oasis.
Studio David Thulstrup share their inspiration, “The design evolved from worn-out warehouses and factories with their blackened steel and old bricks; a concept which was sparked by the desire to retain the three raw-brick walls of the old garage on site.”
The material palette includes concrete, terrazzo, oak timber from Dinesen, original brick work, Kvadrat textiles in rich hues and blackened steel – both plain and perforated. Inspiration was also taken from urban rooftop gardens to meet the client’s request for an integrated green space. The resulting rooftop design comes as a surprise given the slickness of the interior design, yet compliments (or perhaps enhances) the underlying earthy elements in the space that make it feel warm and domestic. The perfect mix of theatre, quirk and earth, Peter’s House is pure fucking brilliance.
EXTREME L.O.V.E.!
