Giving a whole new meaning to eating your feelings, ‘Eat Your Heart Out’ is a witty photo series by NYC artist Isabella Giancarlo that features delicious baked goods that literally spell out the things people say during a break up. Part therapy, the project was born out of a break up Giancarlo recently went through, where she was inspired, literally, to sweeten the words that had caused her heart-break.

Voyeuristic in nature, the series perfectly captures the universality of breaking up – the awkward clichés and clumsy one-liners. So far, Giancarlo has baked and photographed 19 ‘feelings’, and is now encouraging her Instagram followers to submit break up stories for consideration. Simply bittersweet, the series has us cringing down memory lane as we come across ones that resonate with us – ‘Cheers Mate’ is an absolute winner.
