Introducing the March issue: from tribal art to Joseph Kosuth’s electrifying neons

Roll up, roll up! Our biannual Style Special (W*204) has arrived, bringing with it all that’s earth-shaking and game-changing in fashion, design, art and architecture.

For our fashion blockbuster, we brighten things up with Joseph Kosuth’s back catalogue of electrifying neon works at Sean Gallery in New York (p.150), and dip a regal toe in the rising tribal art market for our ‘African queen’ story (p.190), with both features fronting our limited edition and newstand covers.

Everything’s all white at Smith House in Connecticut, one of Richard Meier’s earliest residential commissions (p.176); while big, bold tailoring does all the talking in our men’s fashion story (p.202).

From exploding BMWs to Balthus cats, we rounded up the S/S 2016 fashion shows in numbers (p.121). Next, Italy calls: first stop, Milan, where we spoke with artist and jeweller Giampiero Bodino about remastering the past (p.106), before jetting to Rome for a sneak peek of Palazzo Privé, Fendi’s new Dimore-designed apartment (p.112).

Back in London, this season’s looks were captured against the clean lines and contemporary interiors of a newly dapper Belgravia townhouse (p.92), while British garden designers du jour the Rich Brothers will have you lusting for spring with a creation for Chanel (p.92).

For the oenophiles among us, we opened up a world of spirit-raising accoutrements in our Wine & Design special (p.135); Paris-based jeweller Charlotte Chesnais had us a little wrapped up in her sinuous and sculpted creations (p.105); and Olafur Eliasson and Peter Zumthor play mentors (p.138) on an arts initiative led by Rolex.

Finally, art-fashion colossus Karl Lagerfeld dishes up his favourite recipe of stuffed peppers (p.218). Guten Appetit!
