Salute Aussie icons like AC/DC and goon sacks with these coins
If you long for the mighty goon sack to take the place of Queen Elizabeth on an Australian coin, then look no further than “Straya Shrapnel.”
It’s the latest installment of Aussie currency being given a modern makeover, championed by artist Aaron Tyler, the genius behind the wildly popular “Straya Cash.”

The coins feature a whole bunch of Australian icons “that I couldn’t fit onto Straya Cash,” Tyler told Mashable Australia via email, including those “that people demanded in the comments online.”
These include rock royalty AC/DC, actress Toni Collette as Muriel and legendary cricketer David “Boonie” Boon, who was said to have consumed 52 cans of beer on a flight to England from Australia, as part of a tour in 1989. Read more…
